Mustache Addict!

Emiliano Zapata impersonator?
Happy hands rocking a mustache bracelet :)
Even Snoopy knows that rocking a mustache makes him cool!
1) Rocking my Mustache scarf from Deloom, it makes this cold weather a little bit more bearable.

2) Dancing fingers excited to dance the night away with my new mustache cuff from ebay.

3) Oh happy day when happy mail arrives in the form of a snoopy mustache sweater from Forever21.

Yes, I'm a mustache addict and I need help! I might have gone a little bit overboard with the purchases but a girl deserves a treat after so much running :)

What's your current obsession?

P.S. If you know of any other must have mustache items, do let a girl know!

Third Times A Charm...

Two times I've already walked out of Best Buy empty handed. I've gone in with the goal of walking out with my new MacBook, yet both times I've just ended up staring at them.
I have no idea what's wrong, I'm starting to think that I'm way too attached to my current laptop and that's why I haven't moved forward! Even though my Toshiba has been acting up for a long time now it still breaks my heart to let it go. Yes, yes, major dork. But that's just the kind of girl that I am!

They say the third times a charm :) Sunday is the day I get my new laptop, for real this time!

Do you get attached easily?

1.28.13 Vlog Update!

P.S. The Midnight Run was my dad's 1st race years ago! He's already run numerous marathons :)
The cold weather makes me ramble!

78 Days 23 Hours Till...

I run my first half-marathon!
Yeah, I said it out loud and just told all of you! Now there's no way I can back out!
Only thing missing is hitting that send button in the online application.

It took me some time to get out of that "I can't do it" mentality and it's still nagging me in the back of my head, but when I mentioned signing up I received SO much support from so many of you! Again I thank you all for all the rooting and support in this new journey of mines. I know it won't be easy but I believe I can and I will!

 April 14, 2013
Is my day!!!

Any advice for this first time half marathon runner is welcome :)

Early Blessing

January 20, 2013 at 8:04am - Frida 5lbs 12oz 18.5 long

One month early my niece was born! It was a wonderful surprise and a very unexpected one. We were planning my sisters baby shower for next weekend but baby girl wanted to see us already.
It was after 10hrs that Frida decided to finally come out and say Hola :)
I will never forget the feeling of seeing her come into this world and I am so proud of my little sister. It was a natural birth without painkillers, she is a trooper and I love her so much.
My baby sister is a mommy!!

Cuddling with my baby girl Frida!

Munchkin holding his baby cousin for the first time! He had to wait till she was home, because of flu season, children under 12yrs old were not allowed to visit.
Now he can't stop holding her or watching her sleep.

The miracle of life is a blessing!

I love my family and am happy to say that I am officially an auntie!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend loves!

Flu go away!

The flu finally took over me. Its been hitting hard in my neighborhood and munchkins school and it finally got me. I was in bed yesterday all afternoon, my entire body ached, I was burning up and I felt so nauseated. Today the nausea has subsided, but I still feel like crap and all I want to do is be curled up in bed, hoping that eases my body aches. I really hope this flu goes away ASAP, especially with all the things that I have going on. Will be back soon, I hope! :(

Only thing keeping me sane is having my little munchkin watch over me. He stayed in bed with me watching cartoons and holding my hand while I slept.
He is my life and I love him so much!

Flavorful packed bottles! #healthyslim

FRS - There's something for everyone!
How many times have you tried a protein, energy or healthy drink to help you curb your appetite that actually tasted good?!?
Raising my hand here! I've bought many, and when I say many I mean that husband was getting annoyed at all the half opened bottles just hanging around in my refrigerator.
There was always something that just didn't work, it was either the after taste or the smell that hit me just as I opened the bottle that made me gulp down just a little sip of those products.
I've seen the FRS bottles for a while now and have always been intrigued by the bottle, I mean come on! Doesn't the colorful bottles full of fruit pictures call your name?!?
And they won a Best Protein Drink Award in 2012!

You better believe that I was very excited to find a box of FRS goodies waiting for me at home, when I was about done from a long day with the munchkin. I loved that I got to try the drinks and their chews.

Husband being greedy with the FRS Protein drink flavor - Blackberry Acai
Brother taking FRS with him to his basketball game!
They are family friendly and yummy. It was a constant war here with my boys fighting over which one they would get to try. Finally I had to give in and share not only with them but also with my brother, what a girl has to do to get them to be quiet!

Verdict: They are delicious!! Upon opening the bottle for the protein Blackberry Acai, you will take a whiff and get a hint of the vitamin smell but trust me that you will forget it the moment that you take a sip. The drinks are not too sweet and you can actually taste the fruit. The chews are delicious and the gum reminds me of chiclets - big ones. I made sure to chew some before my morning runs and they helped with that extra little push. My munchkin was also able to enjoy the protein one with us and that's all he wants to drink now.
Those little bottles are packed with flavor and, protein, fibers that are good for our digestive system and tons of other good stuff that's good for us. You can read more info about their products here.

FRS is definitely a must try drink!

Have you tried FRS before?

Disclosure: As a member of FitFluential I was sent FRS products to review. All opinions are my own!

Jury Duty = Boring Long Day

I've been up since 6:30am thanks to Jury Duty! I'm tired due to a long night of no sleep and this flu feeling that's trying to creep up on me. Right now I'm sitting here bored out of my mind and happy I wasn't called in the first batch of people! Hoping I get out of here fast, so I can go home and rest this cold off!!
Love, Kary xoxo P.S. posted this from my cellphone :)

Choice Organic Tea

Have you guys heard of Choice Organic Tea?
If your answer was No, well don't worry because I'm here to solve that! :)

My family and I are Tea Aficionados, but we always used to stick to our Yogi - Green Tea & Kombucha one. To afraid to step out of our taste buds comfort zone. Choice Organic Teas contacted me to see if I'd love some samples & I couldn't have been happier. It's been a month already that I've (we've) been enjoying the yummy supplies of tea that I was sent and I think it's time to talk about this Gem!

It is out of  this world delicious, so many flavors to choose from and please all of the different palettes we have going on in this house!
Husband loved the Masala Chai with it's hint of Spice, he literally only let me taste one cup of that tea, he hid the rest - Grrrrr! Munchkin loved the Wild Forest Black and I loved the Rooibos Chai. Let me not mention that every time we had a visitor I had to share these yummy teas with them and everyone had a favorite!
They are all different and perfect for these chilly days. I've enjoyed a cup of tea while reading and catching up on my favorite blogs :)

Not only are these teas yummy but you'll be happy to know that they are organic and non-gmo, and fair trade certified. Yay!! No feeling guilty here.
Oh and Choice Organic Tea just won two awards in December!
The company won 1st place for it's Genmaicha Tea in the Green Blended/Flavored Tea Category
and 3rd place for it's Wild Forest Black Tea in the Black Tea category - oh yeah!!
That means that they get to showcase their yummy teas at the North American Tea Championship Tating Winner's Circle at the World Tea Expo and World Tea Fest in 2013.
I wish I could go! Ok back to the point to all my tea lovers out there you should check out Choice Organic Teas and experience the yummines for yourself!

You can check them out here.

Have you tried Choice Organic Tea before? If you have what's your favorite flavor?

Disclosure: I was sent some Organic Choice Tea for reviewing purposes but these are my own words and I would not promote an item that I think is not good! I will always be honest! If you have any questions just ask in the comments below.

#MyCommitment Day Recap

1.1.13 Ready for My Commitment Race
The family that runs together stays fit together!
No New Years Eve hangover for me! A few hours after my NYE  race I was up and ready for my second one. This one was equally special because I would be doing it with my boys :)

The plan a few days before the race was that husband would run it by himself so he could try to do a PR and munchkin and I would run it slowly, but husband said no! We would be doing it together as a family. It was a grey, cloudy and chilly day.Upon arriving we were greeted by lots of orange which made it very colorful. Munchkin was a little bit worried because this would be his longest race.
We ran and walked and before we knew it we were crossing that finish line! Woot!!
I was so proud of my munchkin, he did it and you better believe Husband and I were very proud parents.
It was great to do this race as a family and to see how exciting it was for all of us.

We are committed to being a fit family and we are ready to kick some serious butt in 2013.

Cheers to an epic 2013!

Kary xoxo

Ringing in 2013

1.1.13 - Me at 1:00am, a little bit after crossing the finish line to my 1st race in years!
I did it, you guys!! I ran my 1st race in years and I didn't stop once, well only for a second or two because my running buddy couldn't work the camera :)

My running buddy! My hero, my daddy!
It was already an emotional day, to think that I would be running in a race and to top it off that I'd be running along side my dad! I've said it before, my future goal is to one day cross the finish line of the ING NYC Marathon with my dad. But this was equally as special. The Emerald Midnight run was his first race, some years ago and I remember waiting for him to finish the race when my sister and I were little.
This time around they waited for both of us!

I had little crying fits throughout the day and as the hours winded down to midnight I started having fleeting thoughts of running away, or just saying that I was feeling sick or something, so that I'd have an excuse for not doing the race. But all my tweets, messages, and texts that I'd received throughout the day and days leading to New Years Eve made me think of all the people thinking of me and rooting for me, plus wasn't this what I'd worked so hard for?!? To run my first race!

I put on my running gear which consisted of a red sparkly skirt, pink sneakers, LED earrings and Sparkly Soul red headband. I was ready to bring it on!

With my dad, a few minutes before the race started!
The fireworks started going off and off we went running into Central Park. I felt good, ecstatic and pumped. There's no better energy like that than being surrounded by a bunch of runners, screaming happy New Years while doing something they really loved - running!
I'll never forget the feeling of looking up at the sky and seeing it light up with colors and screaming Happy New Year Daddy! Sure it was a cold night but I felt warm and happy.
I didn't get any cramps and my asthma was perfectly under control, what was even more exciting was the fact that I didn't stop once to catch my breath. I've been running every morning and every single time I did one those morning runs I've always stopped to catch my breath. This time I didn't!!! I didn't!!!
My feet didn't let me stop, I couldn't, and I didn't want to. My dad said words of encouragement the entire time, "You can do it, chiquita", "Your doing great", "We are almost there", "Your doing it, Chiquita"  and the moment we both saw the finish line, we started racing each other. It's a feeling like no other, I felt like a little girl again, running and giggling with her daddy as she crossed the finish line. I shed tears of happiness and I felt proud of myself .
I set my heart on something and I did it!!

My boys
With my seester and niece or nephew :)
With my dad & mom!
This girl right here has set her heart on running a half marathon in 2013 and SHE WILL!!
Because she can!!
Cheers to what's sure to be an epic 2013!!

Kary xoxo

P.S. Stay tuned to the MyCommitent race which was done only a few hours after my New Years Eve race! I was on a roll that day :)
