Is Thanksgiving really the forgotten Holiday?

It's Wednesday night and Miguelito has no school tomorrow - Yay! It's also my day off from work since the school is closed : D  We just finished eating spaghetti tacos and watching Diary of A Wimpy Kid, now I'm here sitting in front of my computer, Miguelitos playing with his action figures and we're listening to "Live your Life - Rihanna" (one of Miguelito's favorite songs -lol )

As I sit here and think about the upcoming holidays I wonder why is it that Thanksgiving is somewhat overlooked due to the excitement of Christmas preparations. Have you noticed when going to a store to buy decorations the Thanksgiving ones are all crowded in a little corner somewhere, meanwhile you have aisles and aisles of Christmas decorations and knick knacks. Store window displays are all decorated with Santa Claus and Rudolph the red nose reindeer. So what happened to Thanksgiving and hanging up little pilgrims or Turkeys - Gobble Gobble.

I love Thanksgiving and all the excitement that comes with it : D Like the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade : D
We live three blocks away from where they inflate the balloons. The day before Thanksgiving is always
so much fun, I get to take Miguelito out from school early so that we can catch the balloon inflating - shhhhhh don't tell anybody....

Miguelito with my Lil Lilo - his auntie Jessy : D

We are really looking forward to Thanksgiving and the Macy's Thanksgiving parade especially since we will actually get to go to the parade this year. I've been putting it off for years due to the fact that I didn't want Miguelito to get sick  ( it's either been raining or been really cold the past years) and we have to wake up really early to get a good spot : D

15 Days Left Till Thanksgiving

What are you looking forward to this Thanksgiving?

  1. Yay! Hurray for no school today nor tomorrow! Thanks to all the Veterans!

I haven't realize how close we are to Thanksgiving! You are so right Kary all the Christmas anticipation make Thanksgiving seem like a forgotten Holiday!

Oh Cool you're going to see the parade this year! I want to be there! Bundle up and stay warm!!

This year we're having an early Thanksgiving dinner at my mom's my brothers and sister, a couple of aunts and my cousin and girls will also be there. We're having sort of like a potluck and my brother will cook the turkey on the grill outside (he makes it real good! yum yum!) And I mean an early dinner because some in law family members will go in the afternoon and their families. Sounds good no?? you really can't be in two places at a time you just gotta plan it! Best to you Kary have a nice weekend!

  3. All my life I've wanted to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (ever since I watched the old black & white movie, Miracle on 34th Street, as a little girl)... How exciting that you live just three blocks away!

We had Thanksgiving about a month ago here in Canada. It's a lovely holiday. Happy Almost-Thanksgiving to you!
