DIY Mini Treasure Chest Inspired By The Disney Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Men Tell No Tales

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. We were provided with materials to make our own mini treasure chest and screening passes to watch an early showing of the movie. All words and opinions are 100% my own as always.

Have you ever wondered about your most treasured possessions?
With the new Pirates of The Caribbean movie coming out we thought what better way to celebrate than to decorate our own little mini treasure chest, something where we could put some of our most treasured items and guard like a pirate would guard his treasure chest.

We were sent some some promotional items for the new Pirates of The Caribbean coming out this Friday, among those items there were some fun crafting materials to decorate our own mini treasure chest. It's been pouring here in NYC and what better way to spend a raining day then with some fun family arts and crafts. Husband was off this weekend and it was great to have him helping out.

We started with a blank mini treasure chest but after covering it in some Golden Oak color it was the perfect treasure chest waiting to be bedazzled with some colored gems.

Perfect family bonding time. Even Miguel got to help out and glue some gems on, big brother loved helping Valentina figure out where to stick the gems and how to color coordinate them a little bit.

After our mini treasure chest was decorated it was time to fill it with some of our most treasured items. This was by far my favorite part, I loved picking out things to put in our treasure chest and explaining to Valentina why these items were special. We picked two pictures which included her when she was in my belly and one of her with her grandma and me. The two little lego people she carries everywhere, they represent her dad and abuelito. If one of them ends up lost she starts freaking out and it ends up being like a tornado went by our apartment after we looked for the little lego people. The Wonder Woman wooden peg doll because I always tell Valentina that she is strong and can do anything she sets her heart and mind on. The bottom part is full of gems that were not used and Valentina calls them her diamonds.
It was definitely a great way to celebrate the new Pirates of The Caribbean movie coming out.

Disney Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Men Tell No Tales comes out this Friday in a theater near you.

Storyline:
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

We got to watch an early screening Tuesday night and OMG!!
We have followed the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies since 2003 and this has got to be hands down the best one yet. I loved how loose ends were tied and we get to see some of our favorite characters and a true love story come to a happy ending.
Yes, I was the one screaming when Orlando Bloom came on screen. Valentina loved the movie, even though she fell asleep during the last 30 minutes of the movie. All four of us give it two thumbs way up and definitely recommend it as a must watch movie during this Memorial Day Weekend.

But before you go and watch the newest Pirates of The Caribbean movie, why not have a marathon movie night. Re-watch all the previous movies while you decorate a fun treasure chest with your family or download the activity sheets below.

Get the popcorn ready for a night of family fun :)
